As a former LJYB player, Jake remembers the golden years of youth sports in San Diego (baseball at Cliffridge, soccer at Allen Field, basketball at the Y). He often talks about how much youth sports meant to him and how he now understands their impact and value as they are "one of the last training grounds capable of providing kids with 'real' life lessons".
At LJHS, Jake was awarded to All-League and All-CIF teams in multiple sports and helped the Vikings capture their first CIF Baseball Championship in 1993. He was later elected into the LJHS Baseball Hall of Fame. Jake also understands the value of playing multiple sports. A 6-sport athlete at LJHS, Jake chose baseball in college where he received scholarships to play at both Westmont College and Oregon State University. He continues to study baseball and pitching under the guidance and mentorship of pitching/QB guru, Tom House and travels the country attending and instructing baseball and throwing clinics.
Jake has earned degrees in Psychology and Educational Counseling and has over 15 years’ experience working in San Diego schools as a counselor and as a teacher. This unique background of growing up in La Jolla, coupled with his knowledge of sports and the educational system has helped Jake discover meaningful ways to connect, mentor and guide San Diego's young ambitious athletes.
